This collection was inspired by travels across the world and in particular, uses the colour palettes of oceans and lakes - Places where the designer Hetal feels at one with our Earth. The planet is stunning and with this collection, she wanted to play her part to protect it through ethical and sustainable practises.
The silk you see throughout the collection is made in India. Known as the ‘silk of peace’, it is an ethically produced silk which allows the silkworm to mature into a moth, an event that doesn’t happen in normal silk processing. With this collection, Hetal supports two small productions teams, handloom weaver families and cocoon/silkworm/moth carer families. She believes that Vaai garments, as beautiful as they are, must still serve the people that create them.
